MTG Bloomburrow marks the 101st Magic: The Gathering set in the game’s 30-year saga, and it’s a paw-sitively exciting first visit to the plane of Bloomburrow. Hot on the heels of the rootin’-tootin’ Outlaws of Thunder Junction, this new set takes us away from traditional fantasy realms and straight into a world bustling with anthropomorphic critters known as Animalfolk.
Imagine Jace Beleren trying to cast spells while dealing with the fact that he now has a bushy tail and a sudden craving for acorns. Forget elves and goblins; get ready for hedgehogs wielding swords, and squirrels casting spells. The plane of Bloomburrow is ready to show us a wild side we’ve never seen before in Magic!
Get Ready for MTG Bloomburrow: Key Dates and Adorable Details
After our first sneak peek at Bloomburrow, prepare for an in-depth dive into its whimsical world. The Magic Story, giving us a closer look at the set’s lore and characters, drops on July 2. A week later, on July 9, the excitement ramps up with card debuts and previews, running until July 19.
Once the hype train has reached full speed, Bloomburrow officially releases on August 2. But for those eager to get their paws on it sooner, MTG Arena will feature the set four days early on July 30. Plus, you can adopt an adorable Bloomburrow Pet to watch over your battlefield and silently judge your every misplay.

MTG Bloomburrow: Tiny Heroes, Big Adventures
MTG Bloomburrow is set in a peaceful Valley, where tiny Animalfolk live and work in harmony—until huge elemental predators, known as Calamity Beasts, start wreaking havoc. From the avian might of Maha to the grizzly strength of Lumra, these beasts threaten to shroud the Valley in darkness. But the brave inhabitants of Valley are ready to fight back and protect their home.
Leading the charge is the set’s protagonist, Mabel, a mother mouse with a magical sword called Cragflame, which also features as a token equipment card. Joining the fray is an unexpected ally: Ral Zarek of the Izzet League, who, thanks to a quirky planeswalking mishap, has been transformed into an otter for his Bloomburrow adventure.
Bloomburrow also kicks off the new Dragonstorm arc, although how it ties into the larger storyline remains a mystery for now.
